Padre Pio Pack
Padre Pio is the first stigmatised priest in the history of the Church. His life revealed his very deep union with God and his burning love for the Blessed Eucharist and Our Blessed Lady. Love moved him to care for the sick, to attract sinners and to deeply live the mystery of Holy Communion and forgiveness.
He died on September 23, 1968. His funeral was attended by over 100,000 people.
Pope John Paul II recognized Pio as a saint on June 16, 2002. His feast day is September 23. He is the patron of confessors, civil defence volunteers, and adolescents.
